SEYMOUR — A driver accused of crashing into a police car while driving drunk Sunday has been arrested.

Lefzek Zygaldo, 46, of Kathy Drive, was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and failing to have motor vehicle insurance.

Lt. Paul Satkowski said police were sent to investigate a report about 9:35 p.m. Sunday about an erratic driver. Satkowski said Zygaldo's Pontiac station wagon had turned left off Route 67 and headed west on Mountain Road. Police said Zygaldo's vehicle crossed the center line and struck a cruiser driven by Oxford Police Officer Dennis D'Archangelo. Satkowski said Zygaldo failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. He was released on $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear May 16 in Derby Superior Court.

Sgt. Dan Semosky, of the Oxford resident state trooper office, said D'Archangelo was treated at Waterbury Hospital and released.
