AI'm sorry to hear about your situation. Most of us take the use of our arms and legs for granted. So, I'm sure it must be difficult to cope with your illness. But we can make it a little easier for you to use a computer.
There aren't many speech recognition programs available. Still, you have options.
Windows XP supports speech recognition. The computer manufacturer may have included it on your machine. If not, you can install it.
You can get the software with Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP. At about $30, this is an inexpensive solution. XP is being phased out, so the software is not common. But some Web stores still have copies.
You may also have Microsoft Office or Microsoft Word. The XP (2002) and 2003 versions of these programs include speech recognition.
I've already written a tip on setting up and using speech recognition in Windows XP. This is an excellent place to start. It will get you up and running in no time.

Another option is to upgrade to Windows Vista. All versions of Vista include speech recognition. It is significantly better than the XP program. And you don't need to buy additional software.
To use Vista's speech recognition, you'll need a good microphone. I recommend a microphone headset. It should be a noise-cancelling model. Manufacturers generally specify on the packaging if a microphone is suitable for speech recognition.
