HARTFORD - They were resilient throughout the preseason, and Friday night, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers showed some resiliency in the regular season. And they may have themselves a new superstar.

Coming back from a two-goal, third-period deficit, Bridgeport scored two goals in 30 seconds to take the lead and added two more to defeat the Hartford Wolf Pack 6-3 in front of 3,047 fans at the Hartford Civic Center. Blake Comeau scored his first two professional goals in the third period and added three assists, setting a Bridgeport team record for points in a game. His four assists on opening night had been the 15th time a Sound Tiger had scored four points in a night. "It feels good to get off to a good start, but the team starting 2-0, that's the most important," Comeau said. "I think we came out a little slow, but we showed some character here."

The Sound Tigers are 2-0 for the second time in the team's six seasons. The first time, 2004-05, both of the first two games were at home; these were road games in Binghamton and Hartford. Hartford built a 3-1 lead in the second period; Drew Fata fought Hartford captain Craig Weller a second later, which got credit in the dressing room for sparking Bridgeport's physical game. Fata later came down the right-wing boards, losing two Hartford defenders along the way, and centered to Steve Regier for a tap-in tying goal with 8:36 remaining in regulation.

Just 30 seconds later, Regier got the puck deep, and Jeremy Colliton backhanded a

wraparound off Dale Purinton's skate and in to take the lead. Jeff Tambellini (his second) and and Comeau (short-handed, empty net) put it away.

"I was trying to actually pass it to Comeau at the back door," said Colliton about his goal. "He's got the hot hand, I don't know if you noticed."

Comeau has nine points in his first two professional regular-season games.

"Quite obviously he's a prospect," Bridgeport coach Dan Marshall said. "He was well-coached at Kelowna (WHL). ... He has hockey sense, vision. There's not much he doesn't do well, but he still has things to learn, little things."

Brandon Dubinsky, the highly regarded forward, scored his second goal of the game early in the second to give the Wolf Pack a 3-1 lead. Darien's Hugh Jessiman sent a pass off the left-wing boards to set up Dubinsky, alone in the slot. Then Fata fought to a spirited draw with Weller, enough to wake up the bench. "That got us a lot of energy," Comeau said. Wade Dubielewicz made 30 saves for the Sound Tigers, while former Bridgeport goalie Stephen Valiquette stopped 27 shots for the Wolf Pack. Tambellini had taken two hooking minors in the first period, but he redeemed himself with 5.8 seconds left in the period with a goal on a five-on-three, Bridgeport's second such goal in two games. Veteran forward Peter Ferraro, youngster Luch Aquino and defenseman Jason Goulet were healthy scratches for Bridgeport. Ryan Caldwell (shoulder) and Brandon Cullen (concussion) were also scratched.
