This is the third year the town has retained the firm to do the audit work.
"Anytime with an auditor, it's hopefully a cordial, collegial relationship, and we have that," Chief Fiscal Officer Paul Hiller said yesterday. The audit will involve the town's financial records for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008, and may take up to six months to complete. Annual audits are required by the state, according to Hiller, and are done to make sure the town's financial controls are "strong and accurate."
If there are no significant problems, the town will receive a "clean, unqualified opinion," as it has received in the past, said Hiller.
Board of Finance Chairman Kevin Kiley said Kostin, Ruffkess and Company, LLC has done a good job for the town and added, "It is my expectation that the town will receive a clean financial bill of health based on all of the information presented to the Board of Finance."
