Schneider, a junior at Fairfield Warde High School, was found bleeding and unresponsive at his Congress Street home by his father, Douglas, Thursday evening. He died of a gunshot wound to the head in what police have ruled a homicide.
"We are continuing to follow up on several different avenues," Capt. Gary MacNamara said Sunday, "and look at evidence we seized and do interviews."
MacNamara said the department is encouraged by the response it's already received from the public.
"We're getting a lot of phone calls and people sharing information," he said.
Police have asked the public for any information they may have surrounding the death of the well-liked teenager.
Friends of Schneider's decorated his parking space at the high school Friday and on Saturday held a musical memorial at Warde.
Schneider was the son of Mary Reid (Buchanan) Schneider and Douglas Robert Schneider and brother of Douglas and Rachael Schneider.
