BRIDGEPORT - Registration is underway for Fall classes at Housatonic Community College.

"We're making it a lot easier for people to register," said Housatonic spokesman Anson C. Smith. "We're offering several registration options with convenience in mind."

Those options include formal registrations during August, as well as walk-in registration, paperwork drop-off, online registration and registration by mail or fax.

With the opening on the new Beacon Hall on the southern perimeter of the campus, this will be the college's first semester at a multi-building campus. This additional space, which will feature an enlarged bookstore, classrooms, computer labs quiet study areas, a wellness center, a cafeteria and student activities areas, allows the college to add some 200 classes to the Fall schedule.

Convenience goes far beyond registration options. In addition to the classes offered at its two-building downtown Bridgeport campus, the college will offer five classes at Ansonia High School and 10 at Milford's Jonathan Law High School. In addition, the college is offering 30 online and hybrid courses and 59 Friday evening and weekend courses.

For Connecticut residents, tuition for a three-credit course is $397, including fees, and $1,492, including fees, for a full-time course load (12 semester hours or more.)

aid," said Financial Aid Director Barbara Surowiec "However, the later you file, the greater the likelihood that you'll have to cover your expenses yourself and get a financial aid reimbursement."

The college is processing walk-in registrations for the Fall semester, and will continue to do so through Aug. 25, Smith said. Online registration will be conducted through Sept. 5.

In addition, students can register by mail or fax through Aug. 11, he said, and can register by dropping off completed paperwork in the lobby drop box near the Information Desk through Aug. 11.

Also, the college will conduct formal registration sessions Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2:30-6:30 p.m., and late registration sessions, Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2:30-6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 27, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 28, 2:30-6:30 p.m.; and Friday, Aug. 29, 10 a.m. - noon.

A special registration session for senior citizens and high school partnership students will be held Friday, Aug. 29, 1:30 to 3 p.m.

In Ansonia, classes will be offered in English, History, Mathematics, and Psychology. In Milford, classes will be offered in Biology, Communications, Economics, English, History, Psychology, and Spanish.

The online courses include offerings in areas such as Art, Biology, Chemistry, Early Childhood Education, English, History, Human Services, Latin, Mathematics, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology.

The weekend courses include Friday evening courses in Art, Biology, Computer Science, English, Mathematics, and Psychology, while the Saturday offerings include courses in Accounting, Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Communications, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Developmental Studies, Early Childhood Education, English, English as a Second Language, History, Human Services, Manufacturing Technology, Mathematics, Psychology, Sociology and Spanish.

Sunday course offerings include Art, Biology, Business, Computer Science, English, History, Mathematics, and Psychology.
