In the fall of 2007, UB had a remarkable 18 percent jump in enrollment, leading all other colleges and universities in Connecticut. Graduate enrollment was up 29 percent, fueled by growth in its graduate business and engineering programs. More and more students are choosing the University of Bridgeport because they know it offers a quality educational experience, that it is vibrant and growing, and that it will prepare them for the professional challenges of a world driven by information and globalization.
The University offers more than 125 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs, including a new graduate program for Global Development and Peace. The wide and varied curricula prepare students for careers in business, engineering, computer science, education, public service, music, design, and fashion, as well a number of health care disciplines, including dental hygiene, nutrition, chiropractic, naturopathic medicine, and acupuncture. Students appreciate the small classes, which allow professors to get to know them and provide the personal attention that fosters a rich learning experience.

A number of the university's talented students have earned awards in business, industrial design, and interior design competitions during the past year.
The University is known for its leadership and innovation. Its library is one of the first in the world with the online ExLibris system. UB pioneered the first online graduate degree program in the State of Connecticut. It is the first American institution of higher learning to offer a multidisciplinary undergraduate degree program in Martial Arts Studies. A one-of-a-kind soccer field recently opened to enhance the school's athletic programs.
UB is undergoing a wide range of infrastructure and facilities enhancements that are making the campus a more sophisticated and attractive environment for learning. The school recently launched an ambitious program of capital improvements, made possible by a $21.2 million tax-exempt bond financing issue. Already completed is a state-of-the-art building for the Fones School of Dental Hygiene, equipped with the latest in digital technology, ergonomic work stations, and smart classrooms. The upcoming restoration of the Arnold Bernhard Arts and Humanities Center will transform this landmark building into one of the region's most important visual and performing arts facilities.
